What Makes Someone An Ideal Candidate For Invisalign?

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that uses transparent, removable aligners to treat crooked teeth. An ideal candidate for Invisalign is already straight enough teeth but wants to have straighter teeth. However, if someone's crowding or overbite prevents them from wearing the trays for an hour at a time, they may not be a good candidate for Invisalign. In addition, people with periodontal disease, severe decay, or extensive dental work are not ideal candidates for the treatment. If you have any other questions about whether or not you are a good candidate for Invisalign, it is best to consult your dentist Bondi Beach

Invisalign is a clear, removable aligner that can straighten your teeth without you having to wear regular metal braces. The trays are easy to use and put in, so you do not have trouble eating or talking while wearing them. In addition, you only need to wear each tray for about two weeks before moving on to the next one, so you get results faster than with traditional braces. Invisalign is an excellent choice for people who want straighter teeth but do not want the hassle of metal braces.

If you consider Invisalign as an orthodontic treatment option, you probably wonder if any criteria make someone a good candidate. Not everyone can get Invisalign done. Still, generally speaking, your teeth must be relatively straight and in the correct position to use this type of orthodontic treatment. One factor that affects the prognosis for Invisalign is age. If you are over the age of 21 and still have some crowding issues or spacing, then Invisalign may work just fine for you. If someone is significantly older than that, though, they may not achieve ideal results from this type of treatment.

In addition to considering your age, several other factors determine if someone is an ideal candidate for Invisalign. These factors include:

-The severity of the orthodontic problem

-The patient's oral hygiene habits

-The amount of wear and tear on the teeth

-How well the patient follows directions

If you have all your permanent teeth, good oral hygiene, and are willing to wear the aligners whenever you are supposed to, then you are probably a good candidate for Invisalign. On the other hand, if your orthodontic problem is less severe but you have significant gaps between your teeth or crowding, then Invisalign may be just the treatment that could get and keep your teeth straighter. But, again, you can talk to your dentist about whether Invisalign is the best treatment for you and your individual orthodontic needs.

Is Invisalign always successful?

No, not 100% of the time. Yet it isn't always successful because people are better at taking out trays for eating, sleeping, etc., than wearing them the required amount of hours per day over about a year.

You need to wear trays for 22 hours per day for 6 months, then 18 hours per day for 6 months, then 14 hours per day for 6 months. The average person takes off 1 hour per day, which means they miss out on 13 hours of trays.

If you take off more than 1 hour per day, it is even less likely that you will succeed with Invisalign. You should always follow the advice of your dentist or orthodontist, who can tell you how long to wear them for.
